Information supporting the use of the Reading List app in Canvas.

Publishing your list

Publishing your Reading List makes it visible to your students.

Before you publish a Reading List

  • The list status is Being prepared, and students are unable to view the list
  • A banner will appear at the top of the screen with the instruction: Your list hasn't been sent to the library and isn't visible to students. Click on Publish and send to library to publish your list

When you are ready to publish your list

  1. Select Publish and send to library buttonReading list publish and send to library button

  2. From the 'Publish list to students' pop-up box, select Course students and then Publish

  3.  After publishing your list, the list status is Published and both the banner and 'Publish and send to library' button will disappear. Note: items with a Library processing label will NOT be visible to students. The Library will moderate these items for digitisation requests and/or copyright compliance.

Adding new items after a Reading List has been published

You can continue to add items to a list after it has been published. 

To add a new item to your list

  • Select Add button

Any items you add to your list will either have a Complete label, and students can view them immediately, or they will have a Library processing label.

Note: items with a Library processing label will NOT be visible to students. The Library will moderate these items for digitisation requests and/or copyright compliance.
