About Overdrive Libby App

Overdrive Libby App is an eBook and eAudiobook platform. You can download for offline access, or stream to save space. Loans, bookmarks, and reading progress sync across devices.

  • OverDrive Libby App (via LibrarySearch)
    Search the database for titles available to RMIT students and staff, sign up using your RMIT username and password.
  • Getting started with Libby
    Find more information on downloading the Libby app, signing in and navigating the app. Libby works on Laptops and Desktop computers, as well as Apple and Android devices. The app is available for download on the App store or Google Play.

Finding OverDrive eBooks and eAudiobooks

You can search or browse, and then filter by availability or format. See the Searching help page for more details.

Note: Direct title links are not available from LibrarySearch, all links land on the Libby home page. From there you can search or browse within the database.

After entering search terms, filter results by selecting OverDrive Inc under the AUTHOR facet under REFINE MY RESULTS left-hand sidebar.

Logging in and adding a library card

1. Download the Libby app to your mobile device, or go to the Overdrive Libby App in Library Search

2. Follow the prompts to find your Library and Sign In with My Card. You will be directed to the RMIT MyApps Portal, enter your RMIT username and password

3. You will see your library linked card. You can now find something to borrow using the Search or Library (browse) functions. Loans will appear on your Shelf. 

Okay, you're signed in! Here is your library card. There are two buttons- Rename card and Next

Tips for using Overdrive Libby App

Audiobooks 

  • Visit the Listening to audiobooks page for information on how to adjust playback speed, use keyboard shortcuts, connect to external devices/speakers and more. 

Ebooks 

  • The Reading books page has information on how to get started reading your ebook including how to use the Libby reader, change text size, and add bookmarks or notes.   

Accessibility 

  • Libby has several accessibility settings, including screen reader support and dyslexic font options. Libby Accessibility page has more information. 

More than one library card 

  • You can add multiple library cards in Libby, such as your RMIT and public library cards. Libby supports deep searching, if no results are found for the current library, search results from all libraries are displayed (you’ll see the card from your other library).
