General Rule for Screenshot

Caption rule:

Figure number: Short description of the screenshot. Source: Creator Family name/ Organization Publication Year.

Note:

  • Write your own short description of the screenshot in the way that makes readers understand that it is a screenshot of something.
  • if no information about the creator or organization is available, cite the website name as the creator.

Example:

Example 1: Screenshot of CJ ENM Vietnam Facebook page

In-text reference rule: Include the figure number, creator family name and initials, and publication year in 1 sentence when mentioning the screenshot.

Example 1:

Figure 1 (CJ ENM Vietnam 2024) shows...

Example 2:

As it is shown in figure 2 (Nha Nam 2024), ...

Example 3:

On May 18, 2024, Manchester United has tweeted in X that ... (see Figure 3).

Reference list entry rule:

Reference the screenshot based on where it was screenshotted. For example, if it was screenshotted from a website, reference it as a webpage. If it was screenshotted from a video, reference it as a video. If it was screenshotted from Facebook, reference it as social media.

Note:

  • Ecommerce Platforms like Shopee, Tiki is considered as websites.
  • Check the special cases for more details information on how to make reference list entry for screenshots.
