Digital collection, analysis, and presentation of research data are becoming almost universal in contemporary scholarship. This guide is intended as an introduction to a range of digital tools for research.
Use the navigation tabs on the left to select from the various classes of digital tools to assist with:
- Text analysis and data mining
- Statistical analysis
- Data visualisation
- Geographic information systems (GIS) and mapping
- Presentations
If you require more advanced resources than those listed in this guide, there are many strategies you can use to locate additional materials such as:
- Search LibrarySearch to locate guidebooks or manuals on a specific tool(s).
- Search LinkedIn Learning for tutorials about using digital tools.
- Visit company/owner websites to see if technical and training materials are available.
- Search for third-party resources; look for websites or video content that offer instructions and tips.
- Locate online communities that are using the tools. Discussion boards such as Reddit or social media platforms may have active groups that are using digital tools and are willing to share expertise.
