Beneath Roads is a three-channel work that challenges this perspective, revealing the Indigenous experience and innovation underlying our national identity. By juxtaposing archival government films, iconic Australian road movies and newly captured footage of the Aboriginal motorcycle club, The Southern Warriors, Beneath Roads reinserts First Peoples knowledge legacies and representation into our cinematic canon, recontextualising our relationship to history, culture and Country.

From Boorloo to the misty scrub of Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country, our NAIDOC Week film program presents six short films on Blak resilience and excellence.

A bi-monthly meet-up for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to watch and discuss First Nations films.
The club will present seminal works that have paved the way for First Peoples stories on screen. Guest speakers will join our host to share their experiences and inspire us, and the club will offer a range of opportunities to connect and learn new skills.

Join Mitch Tambo alongside other First Nations creatives as they explore 2024’s NAIDOC theme in the context of how resilience, mental health and wellbeing can be expressed through music.

"Blak, Loud and Proud" encapsulates the unapologetic celebration of Indigenous identity and empowerment to stand tall in their culture and assert their place in the modern music industry. This theme calls for a reclamation of narratives, an amplification of voices, and an unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and the mental and emotional wellbeing of all First Nations people.

This panel invites all Australians to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue, fostering a society where the wisdom and contributions of Indigenous peoples are fully valued and respected.

This NAIDOC Week, one of Australia’s most loved singer-songwriters, Dan Sultan, joins the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra to celebrate the tenth anniversary of his third studio album, Blackbird.

Hear from acclaimed writers Larissa Behrendt, Fiona Foley, Claire G. Coleman and Dylan Coleman, with host Tony Birch and a special performance by Tamala Shelton, as they celebrate the sharing of First Nations storytelling through the generations. The evening will close with a special performance by Yorta Yorta artist and poet Neil Morris (DRMNGNOW).
