Australian organisations

This is the social and professional group for people who work in galleries, libraries, archives and museums – and for those who like hanging around with GLAM types.  

ANZSI aims to represent the interests of indexers and to provide training and other resources to all Australians and New Zealanders involved in indexing. 

ALIA is the national professional organisation for the Australian library and information services sector. 

AMaGA is the national association and peak advocacy body representing museums and galleries

AIATSIS is Australia's only national institution focused exclusively on the diverse history, cultures and heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australia.

CAUL is the peak leadership organisation for university libraries in Australia. 

The NAA holds the memory of our nation and keeps vital Australian Government records safe.

The NFSA’s mission is to collect, preserve and share Australia’s vibrant and diverse audio visual culture.

ICOM Australia is a part of the global network of museum and heritage professionals committed to the world’s natural and cultural heritage

RIMPA is the longest serving peak body for industry practitioners in the southern hemisphere. 

VALA is an independent Australian based not-for-profit organisation that actively supports the use and understanding of information technology in libraries and the GLAM sector. Through its dynamic and professional network of information technology practitioners, VALA offers wide and innovative professional development opportunities, conferences, events, scholarships and awards for its members and friends. 


International organisations

IFLA is the leading international body representing the interests of library and information services and their users. 

ALA is the oldest and largest library association in the world. 

IATUL is known and appreciated as the global association for professional networking of library directors and senior managers at university and research libraries. Over 260 member libraries collaborate in multinational IATUL projects in order to enrich and learn from each other and exchange ideas and experience at a multitude of events that IATUL offers for the global community of librarians.

The Charted Institute of Library and Information Professionals. Independent voice for the UK’s information profession. Guided by the Royal Charter to develop and improve library and information services, and by being a charity to act in the public good. 

An independent umbrella association of library, information, documentation and archive associations and institutions in Europe.
