Catalyst has been the student publication of RMIT University since 1944. Catalyst's first edition, issued by what was then known as the Representative Council of Students of Melbourne Technical College (later RMIT University Student Union), appeared on 18 May 1944. A complete print run of Catalyst issues or digital version is not available at any one single location. In May 2018 Steven Graham submitted a proposal via the library’s innovation platform ‘Bright Idea’ to digitise back issues of Catalyst.
