Australian Standards Online

link to australian standards online  AS: Australian Standards  contains the full text of all current Australian Standards and draft Australian standards to which Standards Australia holds the copyright, including most AS handbooks. 

To open the Standard, click on 'Open Document'.Standards may also be printed out.

Each standard has a pre-determined Expiry Date encoded, so if documents are downloaded, access is temporary (48 hours)

National Construction Code (NCC)

There have been changes to provision of the National Construction Code in 2015:

1) National Construction Code 2014 - in effect until 30 April 2015
Print copies of the National Construction Code 2014 are available in the Reserve collections of the Swanston and Carlton libraries. The call number is 692.30994 A938.
The Library no longer provides online access to the National Construction Code 2014. 
Australian Standards referenced in the NCC can be accessed from the Australian Standards Online database (RMIT student or staff login is required).

2) National Construction Code 2015 - in effect from 1 May 2015
The National Construction Code 2015 will be freely available online from 1 May 2015. An individual registration will be required. Registered users have access to a preview of the NCC 2015 prior to its adoption on 1 May. 
Register for access by visiting the Australian Building Codes Board website ( and following the link on the homepage.
The NCC 2015 online and PDF version can also be viewed on a mobile device.
